Anglophile

What is an Anglophile, really? Someone like me! Someone who’s not from England but loves English culture. Such as the language, dialects, books, music, TV series, sports, food, and drinks. The same phenomenon exists for other countries like Francophile, Germanophile, or Americanophile. But I don’t just like England; I like Wales, Scotland, and Ireland too. So maybe I could call myself a Britophile… although that sounds more like I like someone named Britt. So I’ll stick with Anglophile.

For me, it’s simply wonderful to travel to the United Kingdom and just sit in a pub, enjoy Fish and Chips, a good beer, and hear everyone speak English with various dialects. I’ve been to London several times, seen Big Ben, taken a boat tour on the Thames with afternoon tea, visited the Sherlock Holmes Museum on Baker Street, been to Madame Tussauds, shopped on Oxford Street, and much more. I’ve also been to Exmouth, to Edinburgh, and a long time ago to an island called Arran, just off Glasgow. I’ve even taken the train from Edinburgh to Mallaig through the Highlands, part of that journey with the steam locomotive, The Jacobite, also known as the Hogwarts Express. It was an absolutely fantastic journey! I want to go there again; I never want to leave. They say that when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life. I agree!
